The IR35201 controller includes extensive fault protection features such as Over Voltage Protection (OVP), Under Voltage Protection (UVP), Over Current Protection (OCP), Over Temperature Protection (OTP), and CAT_FLT fault protection .

The IR35201 controller has an exclusive address for communication with multiple devices on the bus. This address is programmed to ensure operation with other devices on the bus. The PMBus interface requires 4 different protocols for accessing configuration and monitoring registers. These protocols include the PMBus Send Byte protocol with/without PEC, PMBus Read/Write Byte/Word protocol with/without PEC, PMBus Block Read and Block Write protocols with Byte Count = 1 and Byte Count = 2, and the PMBus Block Read Process call. Additionally, the IR35201 supports Alert Response Address (ARA) and Bus timeout for compatibility with industry standard +3.3V Tri-State MOSFET drivers. The I2C or PMBus interface used for communication with the IR35201 consists of clock and data signals and operates at speeds up to 1MHz. The bus provides read and write access to internal registers for configuration and monitoring of operating parameters. An exclusive address is programmed for the IR35201 to ensure proper operation with multiple devices on the bus.
